Pre-Forum Conferences

-

A central part of any healthy ministry is the teaching of God’s Word. But after spending hours at work, then facing the pressures of home and family, and then even more hours consuming media, the minds of people in your ministry are often numb and unresponsive. How was Christ able to hold the attention of crowds for hours? Why did his teaching stick – and transform? What can we learn from him that will make our teaching attractive, interesting, and life-changing to people who are used to hearing a lot of noise?

The heart is arguably the most important psychological term in the Bible and the Christian tradition. Yet, modern psychology has largely ignored it, because of its scientism and bias towards the intellect. In Part 1 of this conference, we will survey the biblical and theological basis for the heart; Part 2 will explore the physiological, neurological, developmental, and linguistic support for the heart as a psychological concept; and we will conclude, in Part 3, with a description of its psychological functions and its role in human maturity and spiritual growth.”

The vision of the Emerging Leaders Programme is to invest in the lives of young people across Europe who show leadership potential to develop and resource them for a life of committed service in the public square. Building on the expertise gained by CARE over 25 years of equipping over 300 Christian graduates now serving in all areas of public life around the world, together with CARE’s sponsorship of the Politics and Society Network at the European Leadership Forum, it seeks to equip future leaders by providing a biblical worldview to undergird their engagement with the culture of their countries. This in turn feeds into a vision for the transformation of Europe as they work for the good of their societies.

By exposure to key texts experienced leaders and engagement with each other, the participants of this programme will both grow in their faith, be challenged intellectually and gain expertise and an understanding of what it means to be a Christian leader today. Following the Pre-Forum Conference, participants will join the Politics and Society Network.

This Pre-Forum Conference is invitation-only. All participants must apply and be accepted to the Forum. Please email Kevin Saylor at contact@euroleadership.org to indicate your interest in attending this Conference.
