The heart is arguably the most important psychological term in the Bible and the Christian tradition. Yet, modern psychology has largely ignored it, because of its scientism and bias towards the intellect. In Part 1 of this conference, we will survey the biblical and theological basis for the heart; Part 2 will explore the physiological, neurological, developmental, and linguistic support for the heart as a psychological concept; and we will conclude, in Part 3, with a description of its psychological functions and its role in human maturity and spiritual growth.”
