Our self-obsessed age has attempted to construct human identity apart from the God who made us. This has resulted in what Augustine called "the void of self" and is why modern people can feel so empty. Only in a return to our Creator can this appalling condition be rectified. This pre-forum seminar explores how understanding God is the only hope for people who are floundering in themselves. We will explore ‘The God Who is Not Like Us’ and why this is the ground of our true identity. Then we will examine ‘The God Who is True to Himself’ – something not possible for humans and the reason we only become ourselves in relation to him. Finally, we will look at ‘The God Who Loves Himself (but is NOT a Narcissist)’ and why his total satisfaction in himself is the real foundation for our happiness and security.
