Life is made up of transitions. Each life transition is composed of an ending, a neutral zone and a new beginning and requires that we grow personally through a period of disorientation and reorientation. If any ministry is to last and grow over time its leaders must learn how to manage multiple personal and work life transitions, each of which involves letting go of an old situation, negotiating the confusion of ‘inbetweenness’ and launching out into the new. What strategies can we use to cope with the difficult, painful and bewildering times in our lives as leaders? What can we learn from biblical models of transition? How can we best manage our own personal transitions and coach members of our teams through theirs?
