This workshop will explore how the ‘strange new world’ of gender raises some profound questions (what does
it mean to be human?) and some wide-ranging questions (how Christians live as faithful disciples, good
neighbours, and godly citizens in a culture which promotes trans ideology?). At a more specific level, what a
person considers to be the ‘top five’ question may depend on whether he is a philosopher, politician, pastor, or
parent. However, we have picked five key practical questions to explore:
1. How can we respond well to the criticism that Christianity is ‘transphobic’?
2. What should Christian parents do if their child says they are ‘trans’ or non-binary?
3. Should Christians agree to use, or refuse to use, a person’s preferred pronouns and why?
4. Is it ever right for a Christian doctor to prescribe puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones?
5. What can church leaders do to help equip congregations to think clearly, live faithfully and love generously as Christians in the ‘strange new world of gender’?
There are other important questions: come to this workshop and ask them!
