Every Christian, but especially Christian leaders, must fight a constant battle against temptation. This seminar will encourage leaders that through Jesus they can live a victorious Christian life and will provide biblical strategies for resisting sin through the power of the Holy Spirit. It will consider three crucial questions:
(1) Understanding Temptation: Why Are We Tempted?
Temptation is a universal struggle for all Christians, but understanding its nature is the first step in overcoming it. This session explores what temptation is, emphasizing that feeling tempted is not a sin in itself. We will examine the sources of temptation—Satan, the world, and our own sinful nature—using biblical examples and teachings. By recognizing these influences, we can better prepare for the spiritual battle against sin.
(2) The Victory We Have in Christ: Can We Resist Temptation?
As believers, we are not powerless against temptation. Through our union with Christ, we have been set free from the rule of sin and can live in victory by the power of the Holy Spirit. This session will focus on the biblical foundation of our ability to resist sin, highlighting the role of Christ’s death and resurrection in empowering us. We will also explore how the Spirit enables us to overcome temptation daily.
(3) Practical Strategies for Resisting Temptation: How Do We Fight Sin?
Resisting temptation requires intentional action and dependence on God. This session provides practical, biblical strategies for overcoming sin, including the importance of prayer, fleeing from temptation, applying God’s Word, and trusting in Christ’s finished work. It will also offer encouragement for those who struggle, emphasizing God’s grace, forgiveness, and restoration when we fall.
