Frequently Asked Questions

ELF Annual Meeting

When and where is the European Leadership Forum's upcoming annual meeting?

The 2022 European Leadership Forum's annual meeting takes place from Saturday, 21 May through Thursday, 26 May. The Forum will take place in person in Wisla, Poland.

Who can attend the annual meeting?

The ELF is an invitation-only congress aimed at spiritually mature evangelical leaders. To be considered for attendance, you must be an evangelical Christian, serve in a leadership role, meet the qualifications of the Network to which you are applying, and speak English fluently. Those who fit these qualifications are encouraged to apply.

I am not from Europe. Can I attend the annual meeting?

Though the Forum is primarily designed to serve Europeans, we have welcomed select delegates from all six inhabited continents to our annual meeting. If you feel you are qualified to attend, please fill out an application form.

I paid to attend the in-person 2020 ELF. Do I still need to apply to attend the 2022 ELF?

If you were invited to attend the 2020 European Leadership Forum in person in Wisla, Poland, and paid your conference fees, you will receive a 50 percent discount on your regular 2022 ELF fees. To confirm your participation in the 2022 ELF, please fill out the form here to update your contact details and make a Network selection. (Please note that in order to comply with safety limitations in Poland for large gatherings and provide a safe, interactive environment, all ELF participants are required to be fully vaccinated with one of the four vaccines authorised for use in Poland.)

I attended ELF prior to 2020. Do I still need to apply to attend the 2022 ELF?

Yes. Invitations are issued to individuals each year. If you have attended in the past, you will still need to fill out the application form. This information will be added to our database system to reserve a spot for you and to confirm all your contact details. This application will also allow you to officially apply for a scholarship to the ELF if you are from Central, Eastern, or Southern Europe or from the developing world.

I cannot attend the ELF for the entire week. Can I still participate?

No. A key component of the ELF are Networks, which take place from Sunday-Wednesday. Networks meet as a group throughout the week. Participants build relationships with one another and many of the Network sessions build on previous days. Because of this, it is important that participants who attend the Forum participate for the entire week.

Is there an application deadline?

We accept applications as space permits until Friday, 6 May. However, we encourage you to register soon to get the best possible rates.

ELF Networks

Which Network should I choose on the application form?

When applying for a Network, please consider your educational and leadership background, as well as your current ministry. ELF is dedicated to training, discussion, and relationship building; therefore, each Network is designed for a specific group of Christian leaders who have specific needs and backgrounds. For example, the European Theologians Network is reserved for professors who teach at seminaries, for those who hold a PhD in theology, or for PhD students. If you do not meet these criteria, you would be unable to attend the European Theologians Network.

Can I join more than one Network?

No. Participants can only join one Forum Network per year. Networks meet as a group throughout the week. Participants build relationships with one another and many of the Network sessions build on the previous day.

Travel

Which airport is closest to Wisła?

The airports in the cities of Krakow and Katowice are both approximately 130 kilometers from the city of Wisła. The Forum will provide an airport shuttle from the airport in Krakow to Wisła on Friday, 20 May and Saturday, 21 May.

Will I need a visa to travel to Poland?

For information on who will need visas to travel to Poland, visit the consular services page on the Republic of Poland's website.

COVID-19

Why is ELF meeting in person?

Over the past two years of hosting the Forum online, we have heard many encouraging stories about how God has used these gatherings to unite, equip, and resource leaders. We have been truly overwhelmed by God’s goodness during the pandemic. However, these two years apart have made it clear how important it is for us to safely gather together in person.

Why are you requiring vaccines?

1)We want to follow Polish law, which limits gatherings of vaccinated individuals to 150. Over the summer, the Polish government enacted limitations that would make it impossible to host the Forum unless all participants are vaccinated. We could not hold the Forum without all participants being vaccinated.

2) We want to lessen the risk of COVID-19 as much as possible while still providing an in-person event that is interactive and provides opportunities to build relationships. Requiring vaccination reduces the likelihood of spreading COVID-19. It also reduces burdening the health care system in Poland should a participant become infected with COVID-19 during the conference. Reducing the risk of COVID-19 not only provides a safer environment for participants, but it is also a way that we can express the love of Christ to one another, to the hotel staff, the city of Wisla, and our home communities when we return from the conference.

3) We want to be Christian leaders who are above reproach. As leaders, we are stewards entrusted with God’s resources. It is imperative that Christian leaders bring no unnecessary disrepute to the community of believers. We know that some in the media may seize on any scandal (real or perceived) involving evangelical Christians.

What vaccines are you accepting?

We are currently accepting the four vaccines recognized by the Polish government:

1) Comirnaty (Pfizer)
2) Spikevax (previously COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna)
3) Vaxzevria (previously COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca)
4) COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen

What if I have received a vaccine that is not one of those approved by the Polish government?

We are only able to accept the vaccinations that have been approved by the Polish government.

What if I have already had COVID-19 and have natural immunity?

While the digital EU certificate recognizes natural immunity, the Polish government still limits gatherings to 150 people unless they are vaccinated. For this reason, we will still be asking all ELF participants to be vaccinated.

What if I have a negative PCR test in the past 48 hours?

While the digital EU certificate recognizes negative tests, the Polish government still limits gatherings to 150 people unless they are vaccinated. For this reason, we will still be asking all ELF participants to be vaccinated.

What if Poland changes its regulations before ELF in May?

When planning for an in-person ELF, we understood that Polish COVID restrictions could change before May of 2022. However, as this change was uncertain, we were obligated to comply with then-current Polish regulations for hosting large scale, interactive gatherings. Hence our vaccine policy.

We recognise that individuals have made decisions to attend ELF based on the policy we have communicated. For this reason, we will be honoring our initial commitment to require vaccinations for 2022 ELF participants regardless of changes to Polish COVID mandates.

The only exception will be broadening the list of accepted vaccines if the Polish government authorises others beyond the four that were sanctioned at the time of announcing our policy. Additionally, we will be complying with all additional government restrictions (masking, distancing, etc.) that are in place at the time the event is held.

Will I be required to wear a mask or social distance at ELF?

In addition to requiring vaccinations, there may also be other safety measures in place at ELF, such as rapid testing, masking, or distancing, in order to comply with the regulations of the Polish government and to maintain safety precautions for gathering together. We will communicate what is necessary as we get closer to the Forum.

What requirements will I have for flying?

COVID-19 safety protocols vary by airline. Please contact your airline for more information about any requirements they have for passengers.

What requirements will there be for entering Poland?

You can learn more about Poland’s current COVID-19 regulations at the following link: https://www.gov.pl/web/coronavirus/temporary-limitations

What if I get sick at the Forum?

It is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance for your trip. If you do get sick and need to quarantine in Poland, you would be responsible for any expenses incurred for lodging, food, etc. beyond the time of the Forum.

Scholarships to ELF

I really want to participate but I cannot afford the fee. What should I do?

A limited number of scholarships are available for Central, Eastern, and Southern Europeans. Because funds for these scholarships are limited, we cannot currently guarantee that all who apply will receive one. In order to be considered for a scholarship you will need to fill out the portion of the Forum application form dedicated to scholarships. Please be advised that each person receiving a scholarship pays a portion of their conference fees.

Who is eligible to receive scholarships? How do I apply for a scholarship?

A limited number of scholarships are available for Central, Eastern, and Southern Europeans. Because funds for these scholarships are limited, we cannot currently guarantee that all who apply will receive one. In order to be considered for a scholarship you will need to fill out the portion of the Forum application form dedicated to scholarships. Please be advised that each person receiving a scholarship pays a small portion towards their conference fees.

If I receive a scholarship, will I still be responsible for some of my fees?

Yes. Each person receiving a scholarship pays a portion towards their conference fees.

When will I find out if I receive a scholarship?

We are currently raising funds towards scholarships and will contact invited scholarship applicants by email as soon as we have more information about these funds. We expect this to be in April of 2022. In the unlikely event that we are unable to raise a scholarship for an applicant, he or she is still welcome to attend the annual meeting at the full rate.

Payment for ELF

When should I submit payment for my registration fees?

Please do not submit payment for your registration fees until after you have filled out the application form and received a formal invitation to attend. You will receive instructions for submitting payment after you have received an email invitation from us.

Do you accept credit card payments?

At this time, we only accept credit card payments through PayPal; you do not, however, need a PayPal account to submit payment in this manner.

What if I am not able to attend after I have paid my conference fees? Are there refunds?

It is important to note that no refunds will be available under any circumstances. It is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance for your trip to the Forum.
