Torur Jacobsen
Torur Jacobsen is on staff with IFES Faroe Islands.
I was raised in a Christian home where we regularly attended our local church. I gave my life to Christ at a camp when I was around 12 years old.
Most of the defining moments of my Christian walk are connected to my local church and Christian camps. In 2015, at a camp in Germany called Teen Street, I committed my life to serving God wholeheartedly. Another big part of my development in Christ has been at a discipleship school, which the Faroese IFES movement has arranged since 2016. It opened my eyes concerning discipleship, and I've developed a closer relationship with Christ.
Last year, I went to ELF to learn about evangelism. Not only did I receive great lessons on evangelism, but also lots of different books and resources. This has been a blessing to my ministry. I gained so much knowledge from the event and connected with lots of different leaders across Europe, which I really appreciate. I want to return to ELF to gain more wisdom on how to develop my local ministry.
As a part-time staff member with the Faroese IFES movement, I work with apologetic resources and arrange apologetics events, both online and on-site. My job is connected to the church I attend, where I teach discipleship. I am also studying in Denmark.
I was a youth leader in my local church for five years until I moved to Denmark. I have had a leadership role at a campus with the IFES movement for three years. I have also led the Faroese IFES' apologetics ministry for several years. I now lead a team of small group leaders in my local church in Copenhagen.
I believe the Faroe Islands are becoming increasingly secular. We (IFES) want to equip the next generation of Christians with the courage to share the Gospel and knowledge and wisdom to stand firm when objections and criticism come their way. We want them to have a strong evidence-based Christian foundation, share the Gospel passionately, and grow in their relationship with Christ.
