Tomas Dittrich is a pastor and Editor-in-Chief of the Czech Evangelical Monthly Magazine in the Czech Republic.
When did you trust Christ?
In 1984, my heart was touched after visiting a protestant church.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
Some of the factors that influenced my Christian life are: being involved in the local church, listening to English tapes (especially in the time of communism), working several years as the Czech National Alpha Coordinator, and being in contact with HTB Church in London—also reading Christian literature and working in a Czech interdenominational organization (Christian Mission Society).
What do you hope to gain from participating?
I expect to learn how to motivate the fellowship to pray much more and to evangelise much more. I want to meet new people, gather new ideas, be in a place where I can hear good evangelical teaching, and be encouraged through the fellowship of brothers and sisters from different nations. My most important questions are how to reach new people, address the local community, and help the congregation be more open to the Christian mission
What is your ministry?
I am a pastor of a congregation of 80 members (this congregation being part of the larger local Church in Prague, formed today by ten congregations). Recently, a part of our congregation founded a new congregation, so the number of members is now lower than it has been. Parallel to my ministry in the local church, I write Christian books and serve as Editor-in-Chief of the Czech Evangelical Monthly Magazine published by the Christian Mission Society. I consider these activities as an essential part of my ministry.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I have been an elder since 1990 and a pastor since 2007 in one of the congregations of our church.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I love to learn, and I am one of the prominent Czech evangelical journalists and authors. I believe the Lord can use me for his glory.
