Tamas Schauermann is involved with the Hungarian Evangelical Forum and is a Bible teacher and preacher in Hungary.
I grew up in a Christian family, attending Sunday school, youth group, and high school student ministry. I gave my life to Christ at a young age. As I became more committed to evangelism at my university, I had to sort out many areas in my life and let God take control. Through my involvement in student ministry, I learned and experienced what it means to find God's best intention in my life.
Before joining IFES's year team in London, I wondered whether I believed in Christ due to a friendly conversation with a Jehovah's Witness. While I didn't completely throw out my faith, I searched hard to find good reasons for what I believed. Ironically, I was a missionary during this time. However, God slowly re-convinced me of His power and presence. He used different conferences, books, and leaders in the British and Hungarian student movements.
I have been considering applying for many years. I am a regular attender at ELF, and we have had Leonardo as a guest speaker at our Hungarian Forum. In my ministry, I regularly interact with Catholic believers and other Evangelicals who cooperate with Catholics. I would like to be thoroughly prepared to discuss similarities and differences in theology to build relationships where I can.
I am part of the Hungarian Forum Steering Committee and have led the Bible Interpretation Network since the beginning. I am also a part of the National Coordinator of Langham Hungary, leading a local preaching club. I preach in my church regularly, and I teach, coach, and mentor at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Budapest. I also teach Hermeneutics at an independent Bible school. Lastly, I preach at conferences and church camps, working with leaders in different denominations.
I was a supervisory committee member for the Hungarian International Fellowship of Evangelical Studies (IFES).
My whole ministry has been a great response to the trust, invested interest, time, and resources I received from others. I cannot tell you how important ELF has become in my life. I work hard to replicate the same effect in other people's lives.
