Sigirdur Schram
I was raised in a Christian family where trusting and following Jesus was a priority. My parents were a great example. As a teenager, I wanted to continue following Christ, and I have done so since then. As a teenager, I learned excellent teaching at church, influencing my life. Through struggles and doubts in life, I have found great strength in the Scriptures and other Christians' testimonies. Now, it is crucial for me to present my faith as credible and feasible, provide biblical education to young people, and discuss how to be a Christian in a society with different values and attitudes.
I expect to participate in conversations and learn from Zefjan, who has had good experience and success in his Christian ministry. I met him at the 2023 ELF and invited him to teach at a joint SÍK and church camp in Iceland in October 2023. He has been successful in his ministries and has a great Christian testimony in a ‘difficult’ country.
In recent years, I have been a part of the board of a small Lutheran church in Reykjavik, Iceland. This fall, I will start working for The Union of Icelandic Christian Mission Associations (SÍK), often referred to as the Christian Mission Association, which is a national association of Christian mission groups, associations, and individuals who work on Christian mission and relief work among other nations (and in Iceland). The Christian Missionary Union was founded in 1929. In the beginning, it supported missionaries sent to China. Today, SÍK's area of operation is mainly in the African countries of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Japan, but Icelandic missionaries work in these countries. also supports broadcasting Christian radio programs to China and is a member of SAT7, a television station that broadcasts Christian programs to the Middle East and North Africa. Most of that programming is produced in Lebanon and Egypt, but SAT7's work is ecumenical. I will take over as the manager of SÍK in Iceland around the new year. SÍK also has a mission field in Iceland, offering teaching in Icelandic as a second language for immigrants and asylum seekers.
My role as a manager of SÍK will be to promote God's kingdom and Christian evangelism among our people. To work for Christian evangelism by educating Christian missionaries, sending them to work, and sponsoring their work. As the mission field has come to Iceland with many immigrants and asylum seekers, there are many opportunities to reach out to them and train and disciple young believers.
