What is your ministry?

I am the director of the Institute for the Study of African Realities (ISAR) of the Africa International University. The institute is responsible for research and consultation and bridges the gap between academia and practitioners. Through the institute, the university serves the wider community with relevant knowledge through short courses and other services. I am also a founding director of the By Grace Trust, which is involved in the empowerment of orphans, destitute, and at-risk children through EduTainMent-Education, Training, and Mentorship. Both ministries require me to friend-raise and fundraise for sustainability.

When did you trust Christ?

In 1988, I joined a high school that held Christian rallies one weekend per quarter. I had been attending the school for only one week when I attended the rally. Then, on 13th March, I gave my life to Christ during the "altar call."

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

Being in small bible study groups has always been life-transforming. Other things that have caused me to grow are belonging to a Bible-believing congregation, proclaiming the gospel, leading in various forums, including small groups, public speaking, and traveling to preach the gospel in Kenya and outside. All these have transformed me and the people of God I have interacted with. Finally, mentoring the youth is dear to me and has given me the opportunity for growth in many ways.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

I expect to be trained in ways that will allow me to establish the ministry to last many decades and centuries. Sustainability is a crucial concern, and I believe that the experience the West has had in sustaining mission work and organisations over many decades will benefit me.

I hope to connect with people who have worked in similar fields and have experiences I can learn from for personal growth to the next level. I learn well through observation, and I believe this will be valuable exposure. I am almost 52 years old, and my planning for retirement and succession is essential. I want to see the ministry continue and thrive under younger and competent leadership. I believe that the YRM will allow me to be mentored, network, and gain skills that I need to grow the ministry to the next level.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

From 1999 to 2013, I was the pastor in charge of Christian Education for The Living Word Church. From 2004 to date, Founder and Director of By Grace Children's Home, Schools, and Trust. From 2005 to 2008, Associate Dean of Extension Studies - at Africa International University. From 2013 to 2016, Director - Quality Assurance – at Africa International University. From 2016 to 2019, Academic Dean - at Africa International University.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

As a person committed to mentoring others, I believe the investment will go beyond personal growth to developing emerging leaders. I am committed to entrusting what is given to me to the younger generation.
