Rosemary Mbogo is a professor and the Director of By Grace Trust in Kenya.

When did you trust Christ?

In 1988, I had just joined boarding school for the first time and knew I needed a change. I had known about Christianity as a Catholic believer and wanted to be more devoted, but I had no information on how I could join the convent to be a nun. I was blessed to hear the Word of God preached at my new school. When the altar call was made at the rally, I responded and went to the front to receive Christ as my personal Saviour.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

Being in small Bible study groups has always been life-transforming. Other things that have caused me to grow are belonging to a Bible-believing congregation, proclaiming the Gospel, and leading in various forums—including small groups and public speaking. All these have transformed me and the people of God with whom I have interacted. Finally, mentoring the youth is dear to me and has given me the opportunity to grow in many ways.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

I hope to connect with people who have worked in similar fields and have experiences I can learn from to grow to the next level personally. I learn well through observation, and I believe this will be valuable exposure. I want to see the ministry continue and thrive under younger and competent leadership. I believe that ELF will allow me to be mentored, network, and gain skills that I need to grow the ministry to the next level.

What is your ministry?

I am a professor at Africa International University, a Christian university in Kenya founded by the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. I am also a founding Director of the By Grace Trust, which is involved in the empowerment of orphans, destitute, and at-risk children through EduTrainMent—Education, Training, and Mentorship. Through these two ministries, I also mentor women.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

From 1999 to 2013, I was the pastor in charge of Christian Education for The Living Word Church. I have also worked at Africa International University since 2005 and served in various capacities: Associate Dean of Extension Studies, Director of Quality Assurance, and Academic Dean.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

As a person committed to mentoring others, I believe the investment will go beyond personal growth to developing emerging leaders. I am committed to entrusting what is given to me to the younger generation.
