What is your ministry?

My main focus and time are spent on representing and coordinating the work of the Lausanne Movement in South East Asia, leading chairperson of Interserve Malaysia, and mobilising potential workers for the mission field. My work also includes serving on various initiatives with Elam Ministries, AEAMissions Commission, WEA Missions Commission, Global Member Care Network, and other networks. I am often invited to speak or lead workshops about BAM, member care, tentmaking, MENA, and Iran ministries. One of my fundamental interests is to mobilise the young generation to develop as leaders and consider missions where there is no gospel, particularly with the Lausanne YLGen network and the recent Arise Asia movement that has begun to draw a lot of interest around the world.

When did you trust Christ?

In 1975, I took the step to accept Jesus by myself after reading and learning about him.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

My defining moments are as follows: the rich experience of reaching out to international students while at university (1982-86); short-term missions’ outreach in France in 1983; serving with the Iranian Christian Fellowship in London (1986-1987); serving with Elam Ministries, WEA Missions Commission, Lausanne Movement, and the national council of Interserve Malaysia (1987 until now); and working as a leader and CEO in the corporate and investment banking sectors from 1987 until now.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

I hope to learn fresh ideas and gain new insights, especially from listening to various leaders sharing their experiences and knowledge. It is always essential to learn new things and keep up with the rapid changes in the world.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I was the Overseas Student Secretary of the Christian Union at the University of Bristol from 1983-1984. While at the Iranian Christian Fellowship in London, I led the summer outreach team in 1986. When I returned to Malaysia in 1987, I was invited to serve on the national committee of Interserve Malaysia and the board of Malaysian CARE, a well-known Christian NGO in Malaysia. Since 1991, I have served on the board of Interserve Malaysia until now. I was also asked to represent NECFM Malaysia to participate in the ReMAPII project run by the WEA Missions Commission. I have been serving as an associate of the WEA Missions Commission until now. I also serve on the board of Elam Ministries. I also participate in the Board of Management on the Council of Churches of Malaysia, representing Interserve Malaysia as an associate member.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

First, what I learn can be shared and imparted to those under my mentorship and care. Second, it will sharpen my knowledge and help me make better judgments and decisions when serving on boards of various Christian ministries. Third, I can learn new things and tools to apply in various ministries.
