Oskar Berent
Oskar Berent is a Bible translator with Pioneer Bible Translators in Poland.
I became a Christian at a Christian summer camp for youth. Before the camp, I struggled with guilt and with my thoughts. I knew that God was righteous and that I was a sinner. I thought for sure that I would spend eternity in hell. But at the camp, a group leader shared the Gospel with me. He told me how Jesus died for me and how I could be forgiven. I trusted Christ that day and began my Christian life.
One of the defining moments in my life was when my family started going to church and how they later became Christians. My time attending the Baptist church in Torun was vital because it was there that I developed a solid Christian worldview.
I want to return to the Forum because it is an excellent opportunity to learn, meet new people, and participate in something significant within the evangelical church. Also, I find it to be a great time to evaluate my ministry and life with Christ during the past year.
I work as a missionary with Pioneer Bible Translators. Currently, I am preparing to go on a long-term mission to the west coast of Africa (Guinea), where I will focus on helping orphans and translating the Bible into the local language. I'm also leading a Bible group for young adults. I help at the local church, organising different types of events (evangelism, youth camps, and integration trips).
I have led Bible study groups and discipleship groups.
I am only an instrument in God's hands. I want to learn more about theology to know more about God and share Him with others. Poland is predominantly a Roman Catholic country, and many people are culturally Catholic. Therefore, there is a huge need to prepare young leaders with a firm theological foundation. I think it is worth investing in the youth because they are the future of our churches.
