Nhamo Mutingwende is a volunteer with IBC Bielefeld in Germany.
I decided to trust and follow Jesus many years ago through an altar call when I visited a church. Something had truly happened in me during that service. Since then I have never looked back.
Getting baptised after the discipleship class on biblical baptism---based on the book of Romans chapter 6 and Matthew 3---has to be one defining moment. I felt exactly the same way I felt when I received Christ. Winning my first soul to Christ was as exciting, too; I wanted to do more and more. Being encouraged to attend prayer meetings, leadership conferences, and church fellowships has helped me grow in my faith.
I hope to enhance my leadership skills, network with like-minded leaders and share resources and experiences, gain fresh insights and ideas, and strengthen my theological foundations. I can bring these insights back to my church to refine our discipleship program, expand our reach, adapt to meet our community's needs, and enhance the quality of our materials to ensure that it aligns with sound biblical principles.
The IBC Bielefeld local leadership team asked me to join the leadership team because of my experience in South Africa. This leadership role includes helping to set up a discipleship program, sharing the Word, and playing a crucial role as a local leader in serving the church membership.
One of my primary responsibilities at City of Light Christian Ministries in South Africa was serving as the head of the Discipleship School, where I was tasked with developing curriculum and training other instructors to effectively engage students across various classes. Additionally, I was appointed as a leader in the church’s finance department, where I collaborated with other leaders to manage financial resources. My leadership extended to preaching monthly to a congregation of over 200 people. Furthermore, I actively participated in an evangelism program, engaging in door-to-door outreach to share the message of Christ.
The knowledge gained at ELF can help craft more effective approaches to sharing the Gospel, ultimately bringing more individuals into the faith and discipleship. The support will contribute to an intentional, impactful ministry rooted in a strong theological foundation. By investing in my development and ministry, individuals can play a crucial role in contributing to the spiritual transformation of our community.
