Myroslav Volosetskyi
At the age of 17, I decided to follow Jesus. My parents started visiting a church when I was 14. Since that time, I have grown in Protestantism. Sola Scriptura was such a challenge and eye-opening point in our Christian path. At age 21, I became a regional youth leader and actively shared reformed Christianity everywhere I could. Then, at 25, I was a part of church leadership at Irpin Bible Church. We started a new church in Izmail a couple of years ago with a vision of a growing church strategy. Half a year ago, we started a new church again.
At 18, I went to the U.S. for four months, which was a great “school of Christian life.” It wasn’t easy for a young boy like me to find a job to make a living and pay for studying. I was in the United States alone. I had no friends or family. I was thousands of miles from my close relatives and friends. I spent every free minute I had reading the Bible and praying. I had never had such an experience before. For hours and hours, I would read the Bible and pray. During Bible study, I wasn’t thinking about routine. I was just happy about my relationship with God. During those four months, I helped my faith grow significantly.
I am looking to grasp fresh and practical wisdom for my ministry. For YRM, I am excited to build networking and learn about specific topics. I strongly prefer active studying, case studies, and an interactive atmosphere. I am so open to listening to the alternative thoughts of the participants. A fresh eye is so needed.
As for the Church, we started five years ago here in southern Ukraine, where I moved from Kyiv. We envisioned creating a new church every five years, so four months ago, we started one more Church - called Shalom. I am a leader of the Church. This region is quite specific and strategic.
I was a youth leader at the local Church in the Lviv region and a regional youth leader of the Drogobych, Boryslav, Truskavets, and Stebnyk regions of Ukraine. I attended EQUIP Leadership, Inc. seminars, which were very useful for me as a leader, and I have also used this information at university conferences.
The Ukrainian government and society have a great need for Christian principles. This is the real need of my country right now. We have a great chance to build a new society with a Christian background for our laws and political system, which is entirely corrupt.
