What is your ministry?

I have been working with the Slovak Evangelical Institute (Sevin) for several years, shaping its focus and helping its work by giving lectures at the conferences we organise. I am also involved with Ladislav Hanus Fellowship (SLH), which seeks to promote Christian culture in Slovakia and provides an academic Christian humanities program to students and young adults.

When did you trust Christ?

I committed my life to following Jesus while I was a student in college. Two young men met my friend and me at the dormitory hall and spoke about Christ. They told us they had come to Slovakia to witness and play hockey for Jesus. We thought they were crazy. A few months later, I experienced a strange moment when I realised I had made many bad decisions. I had hurt people and done things I was not proud of, and I decided to read the Bible. I went to see a friend from my university program who was a Christian. (I am not sure I actually knew she was a Christian; even if I did know it, I did not fully understand what that meant.) I told her all about this strange moment. I told her I felt ashamed of some things I had done. She gave me a Bible. I started to read it, repented, and accepted Christ. That was in 2004, and I have been a Christian ever since.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

I joined the local church and started to grow in faith. Since then, God has extricated me from several difficult circumstances. His power invaded my earthly reality and changed things I thought impossible. I experienced God in my circumstances and the circumstances of other brothers and sisters. The most notable and concrete defining moments have certainly been marrying my husband, a Christian, and obeying God's call to study Biblical Studies and Humanities in a post-graduate program at the University of St Andrews.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

The Forum is a unique opportunity to meet well-educated brothers and sisters and have meaningful conversations with them and with those striving to progress the cause of Christianity in this part of the world. I believe it will give me additional formation and deepen my understanding and ministry. I attended in 2017, which helped me better orient myself to the world and its pressing issues. It also provided me with inspiration on how to reflect on them theologically. It also helped me think about current topics that can be brought to the LHF academic program for an ongoing reflection on cultural developments. My attendance brought many new contacts and encouragement in our shared goal to bring Christ into this world in a relevant way.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

Several years ago, I became involved with the Slovak Evangelical Institute (Sevin).

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

Through my education and ministry, I bring a fresh and, in my context, educated perspective on living a Christian life in contemporary society. Many believers in Slovakia do not know how to integrate their Christian faith with their daily lives.
