Martin Benčík is a theology student in Slovakia.

When did you trust Christ?

My original decision to trust and follow Jesus happened on a confirmation weekend trip during an activity where we were supposed to write a letter to God.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

My small group mentor impacted me a lot. His way of living and kindness motivated me. I also had some support from my family, but my decision to study theology caused me to grow the most. Time spent there on faculty and among other churches, as well as time with people, helped a lot.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

The Forum can help me improve my view of things and give me a chance to learn from others. I can become more efficient and practical, and because of that, I can better help people from our youth group and theology faculty. I can also bring my experience to pastors who may not know about ELF.

What is your ministry?

At our faculty, I am the president of the student association called Hurbanov Spolok, where I try to help and lead new and upcoming theologians during their studies (as a fellow student). My team and I are trying to bring passion and involvement into our community. My ministry in this area includes planning meetings, preparing events and activities, having personal talks with people, fixing parts of this association, and strategic planning. As a student of theology, I also prepare for the Sunday service. Besides all that, I am trying to be present and help a few people from our local youth group.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I was a team member who prepared youth meetings and camps—including discussion groups and talks.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

Through this investment, you are investing in more people than one because of my ministry with our faculty. As a determined future pastor, I would love to do my mission as well as possible.
