I was at a youth conference when I was 19 years old, and the speaker was explaining the gospel. For the first time in my life, I understood grace, what it means that Jesus personally took my sin on the cross, and that nothing can be added to his work. I realised that since Jesus gave his all to me, I wanted to follow him with everything I am and have.
The situations that made me grow in faith most were seasons of suffering - when I was chronically ill or when a family member passed away. During these times, I got to know God's nearness and compassion on a much deeper level, and I realised in more depth the horrors of human sinful nature and the consequences it brought, and the gospel was even more glorious to me because of this.
I expect to gain relationships with other youth ministers and learn from their wisdom and experience. I hope to be challenged to grow and become a better minister. I expect that I will see the areas of weakness and that they will be exposed, and I could work on that to reflect God's character more and be a person He could trust with what He's giving me to steward. I expect to be inspired to persevere and maybe to gain some practical skills regarding how to run regular meetings and how to disciple.
I am a youth group leader at a local church. I organise our regular meetings for teaching and prayer. Our youth group has six active members (students) and four leaders, including me. Besides that, I am a disciple-maker. I'm meeting with a few women for 1:1 discipleship, where we read God's word and apply it to our lives. I am also a leader of the Steiger movement in my city (Steiger is a missions organisation), which consists of regular creative evangelism for young people in the streets and evangelism training. This movement is inter-denominational, so people from many backgrounds and churches participate.
I was discipling young women and leading evangelism and Bible studies. I was actively involved in a missions organisation focused on evangelism and discipleship. I was organising events for university students, which served as a way of meeting and sharing the Gospel with them. I was developing relationships with students, studying the Bible with them, and having discipleship relationships with them.
Trnava is a city of students and young people, yet there is no youth ministry with a missionary mindset. I am part of a team willing to take responsibility for changing that. We are doing outreach and discipleship, and I need to grow as a leader and servant so that the youth of this city can benefit from this ministry.
