I came from a family where my mother had a Catholic background and my father wa an atheist. My mother brought me to church for Sunday School from a young age. We attended a Methodist church. Roughly in 1984, when I was in my teens, I became a Christian, mainly as an influence of the Church youth group. I did not know much about my faith until I was in my 20s. At that point, I was fortunate enough to attend a good teaching church in Central London, and since then, I have been given suitable training in handling the Bible.
I hope to learn to apply my faith to my work at all times. I am from a conservative evangelical tradition and, as a result, have had a solid, sacred way to look at the world. Over the recent years, I have seen a more holistic view of work. As a result, I am starting to look at work in this light, trying to put my faith into practice. I have not had a mentor or a Christian who has done this well. I am hoping to grow in this aspect from the course.
I am in the Hedge Fund world. My hedge fund has just launched and is focused on resource equity and debt. Essentially, this is a long, short fund with a global business. Currently, the firm has about 30 employees and offices in London, New York, and Singapore. My team is based entirely in London. Living my faith in front of my team is my ministry.
I am the CIO of a Resources Hedge Fund. I recently joined the company in October of 2023 to launch the fund and build up the business and the team. I have a team of 3 investment professionals supported by the rest of the support staff of the wider Hedge Fund. In the long term, I intend to grow the team to add different skill sets to improve the team and the product.
