Janusz Sylwestrowicz is a full-time missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ in Poland.
When did you trust Christ?
I decided to trust and follow Jesus Christ in November 1986, after graduating from Warsaw Technical University. I made that decision during a Bible study meeting led by a staff member of Campus Crusade for Christ.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
Four months after I decided to follow Jesus, I tried evangelism for the first time in my college dormitory and learned that God could use me. In 1989, I was invited to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in Poland, and I believe it was God's leading. In 2000, I led the first city-wide campaign of the 'Jesus' film in Koszalin and was impressed with God's work on a big scale. In 2006, I started to write an evangelistic novel so I could use the gift of writing God gave me for His glory, finishing the book in 2010. Since then, I have heard from many people who said this novel influenced them.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
By participating in the Forum and year-round initiatives in the past, I have grown in biblical teaching and preaching and was inspired to lead two discipleship groups. I also grew in my biblical and apologetic knowledge by participating in Forum seminars and reading books from the Forum bookstore. I would like to continue growing in my teaching and preaching ministry this year. I would also like to connect with pastors and leaders to learn from them.
What is your ministry?
I am involved in the Church Growth Movement in Mt28 (Campus Crusade for Christ in Poland). My evangelism is mostly through the Internet; I am an e-trainer on the two evangelistic web pages and have many disciples there. I also help in leading my local church. I took part in planting it in 1993-94 and am now serving as the council chairman of the congregation. As we don't have a pastor, I serve in a pastoral role by preaching, organising evangelistic outreaches, and training disciples to preach and teach in the church. I also lead the evangelistic and discipleship groups.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
In 1995, I started to be responsible for the publishing ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in Poland. In 2004, I was appointed to lead the 'Jesus' film project in Poland and supervised many city-wide campaigns for the film. Lastly, in 2010, I started to lead a Warsaw Church Growth Movement team.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I am faithful in my ministry and am searching for opportunities to grow and have a bigger influence on people. I believe discipleship is the key to the growth of the church and Christianity, and I want to grow in that. By investing in me, you are helping me become a more effective servant of Christ in my congregation and country.
