Ioana Nitu
I am an artist — writing, painting, any artistic field has been more than a passion for me. Although I do not have an official ministry yet, I am at a place in life when the Lord calls me to invest and grow this passion into something that would be an encouragement for the church. I want to create content, write poetry, do art that draws people towards Jesus, his grace and kindness.
When I was about six years old, I asked Mom to read me a tract that my family was handing out to people we met in the park. I had a clear understanding of the Gospel truth and was certain that if I didn't repent of my sin, I would not go to heaven. I understood that I needed a Savior, and I trusted Jesus and asked him to take away my sins and help me follow him.
One of the first defining moments of my walk was when I experienced the truth of the assurance of salvation. I was ten and after reading 2 Corinthians 5:17, I was glad in the Lord and I told my parents I was sure that the Lord saved me. Two years later I was baptised, after I shared my testimony with my pastor and my church. Also, during my teenage years, I struggled with self-righteousness, but the Lord was gracious to show me how great his grace and love are, and that there is nothing that I did or can do that would bring me righteousness or keep me on the path of life. It is only Jesus's righteousness that keeps me.
I attended the Forum last year as a volunteer, working as a room monitor in the Artists Network. At the end of the Forum, I enrolled in the Year-Round Mentoring Program with Ann Blaser, which has been a tremendous blessing to me ever since we started our online meetings. I'm looking forward to coming back to the ELF as a participant this year, first of all, because I am excited to attend the in-person mentorship meetings. Also, attending the ELF in 2024 will be a source of renewal and a time when I can gain a worshipful, Christ-centered perspective, which I find important right at the start of my pursuit of art-making for the benefit of the church. I also love theology and having a solid theological foundation in my work is crucial.
My leadership roles in the past have included being a co-leader in organising multiple creative writing workshops for different events during my undergrad studies at the Christian university I attended in Oradea. I have loved getting to brainstorm, create a concept, and also to work along with the other co-leaders in developing activities for high school students or younger/fellow university students.
I am a person that's eager to learn from individuals who have experienced life, life hidden in Christ, life and ministry, life and creative work and all that. I am also willing to work hard, and I want to learn to serve the Lord to my greatest capacity in the ministry he is calling me to.
