Horvath Balint is a theologian in Hungary.

When did you trust Christ?

In 2017, I was in a youth church camp, and I decided that I wanted to follow Jesus. It was a significant change in my life despite my young age. Before I accepted Christ, I was a water polo player and lived a worldly life. So, after my conversion, I got involved in the local church and started participating in various ministries.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

My congregation was greatly influenced by fideism and pietism. This was an excellent ground for my faith to grow, but I began to have questions. These questions were not talked about much in the congregation. So, what else could I have done? I googled them. That's how I came across apologetics, which hugely impacted my faith. I fell in love with theology, so I formally studied it. I want to learn as much as possible to serve Jesus Christ.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

When I attended in 2023, I got inspiration. I learned a lot from the speakers and other believers, and in general, it broadened my vision, which helped me see myself and my purpose in the body of Christ. I hope to continue this impact by attending again.

What is your ministry?

I am a theologian, so my current ministry, in some sense, is preparing for ministry. I am attracted to academia and searching for ways to serve God. Besides this, I help pastors in the local churches.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I led a Bible study group in my high school for three years. We met weekly and talked about different topics. I helped organise church camps for children. I have also preached in the church.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

I am a young theology student and committed to serving Christ. However, I'm not the kind of person who likes to settle into comfortable traditions. I think it is essential to give excellent and relevant answers to the questions of our time. But for that, I know I have to study a lot, and I think the ELF will be a good opportunity for this.
