Gyozo Seres
Győző Seres is the pastor of a church near Budapest, Hungary.
In 2001, when I was 15, some evangelism events took place in Oradea, Romania. I thought that I was too young to make that kind of decision in my life, but Jesus showed me that I was a sinner. At that point, I realised that I needed Him as my Saviour, so I gave my life to Christ on that day.
During 2004-2005, I understood that God was calling me to serve Him during my studies in a theological secondary school in Oradea. I was called to become a pastor in 2008-2009. God showed me the place and the people I was to go and serve.
Participation in ELF has been very encouraging. I want to gain new inspiration from the plenary sessions and seminars, meet old friends, and make new contacts.
I serve as pastor of a Baptist church in the suburbs of Budapest. I preach once a week. Our church ministers in a care centre once a month, organises monthly sessions for a group of young children, and evangelises regularly and in various ways both inside and outside the church. Other tasks include visiting families, providing personal pastoral care, and, more recently, integrating an increasing number of interested people.
I have served as a youth leader in various settings from 2003-2008. I have also been a program organiser in Gödöllő, Hungary from 2005-2007, a speaker at a seminary from 2007-2008, and a deacon at a Baptist church from 2008-2009. Lastly, I became a pastor in 2010.
As a pastor, I would like to widen my scope of teaching and preaching God's Word. Therefore, I would be pleased to hear the experiences of other colleagues and participants in the Network groups. However, my financial possibilities are limited, so I need help participating in the European Leadership Forum.
