Gyorgy Fazakas
Gyorgy Fazakas is a pastor and the Vice President for Education at the Hungarian Baptist Convention.
I grew up in a Christian family and attended church meetings regularly, but at 15, I realised I needed a new life. So, in 1992, I signed up to attend my first youth camp. The Gospel was preached, God spoke to me, and I decided to follow Jesus. Some friends helped me confess my sins in prayer and ask for God's forgiveness. It happened on the 1st of August 1992. Since then, I have been a follower of Jesus.
Soon after my baptism, I began to serve among the youth in my church. A youth leader helped me strengthen my faith, and some elders in the church took me out on mission trips in nearby towns. While I prayed to know God's will about full-time ministry, they recognised my calling and encouraged me to follow it. The period between 1996 and 2000 was critical as I attended seminary and prepared for ministry. My professors greatly impacted my life in both the knowledge and practical aspects. I began to serve as an associate pastor in 2000 in a community of 8 churches. In 2000, I got married, and now we have three children. In 2007, we moved to a new area, where I pastored six churches. Since 2014, we have lived in Nadisu Hododului, where I pastor three churches.
Attending the Forum has brought refreshment to my ministry and changed my view on pastoral work and missions. My faith was strengthened by hearing the experiences of other Christians. This movement has been like a vitamin for my soul.
I am the pastor of 3 churches, where I regularly serve by teaching and preaching. I am also the Vice President for Education at the Hungarian Baptist Convention. In addition, I am involved with teaching at the seminary and administering the different educational programs.
I taught for several years in a territorial Bible School. I was a member of a territorial association of Hungarian Baptist Churches, part of the Hungarian Baptist Convention of Romania.
The ELF would be a great blessing for my ministry and me, but without financial support, it would be impossible for me to attend the Forum. Therefore, financial investment in my training would be an investment in the Kingdom of God.
