Gusztáv Sándor Tarcsa

Gusztáv Sándor Tarcsa is a youth pastor and theology student in Hungary.
When I was 15, I started reading my confirmation Bible, and John 8:31-32 convinced me that I wanted to follow Jesus: 'If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free'. I was curious to know what truth Jesus was talking about and wanted to become a real disciple, not just someone who knows a lot about Jesus.
My faith development was most influenced by meeting other Christian youth during high school and attending several national Christian youth conferences. It convinced me that I am not alone in my faith but belong to a community! A second milestone was moving from being a participant in Christian youth programs to becoming a servant and a leader in my community.
My mentor pastor and fellow theology students suggested I apply. I hope to draw many useful models and ideas from getting to know Christian servants from other European nations and their work.
I am currently a trainee pastor (final year theology student) at the Újpest-Belsővárosi Reformed Parish, where I lead the youth ministry and coordinate the work of the other servants.
I served as an assistant leader of a Christian student circle while attending my reformed church high school. Later, as a theology student, I led a team of seven high schoolers for a year, meeting weekly to read the Bible and prepare to serve at a church children's summer camp. This experience shaped my faith the most.
All leaders need training and reinforcement, and everyone in the body of Christ is needed for the Church to be healthy.
