Filipe Silva
I serve with the Association of Christian Nurses and Doctors (AEMC), which was established in Portugal in 1997 and has the vision of being a community of health professionals and students that seeks to grow to the measure of the stature of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:13). The AEMC seeks to bring together, encourage and train health professionals and students to follow the example of Jesus Christ as agents of integral health, serving with Competence, Compassion, Respect and Integrity. The Association promotes prayer meetings, congresses, discipleship groups, and webinars. It also seeks to involve students through partnership with the local IFES.
I was born into a Christian family and realised I should make my own decision in a Sunday school class at seven years old. Later, I was baptised at 14 years old.
First, participating in the community of Christian college students gave me a "kingdom vision" regarding collaboration with different denominations. It also marked the end of a crisis of faith that had begun as a teenager. Second, other Christian health professionals encouraged me to become involved with the National Association of Christian Nurses and Doctors. My wife and my church have also been critical spiritual influences.
I hope that God will use this time to make me a better leader with a greater capacity to develop and grow this ministry.
I have been involved in the leadership teams of the local churches where I was a member. I have also been involved in the Christian Nurses and Doctors Association.
Healthcare professionals have specific challenges related to their professional lives. It is essential that they interact with other Christian professionals, collaborating for spiritual growth and the growth of the Kingdom of God. By the grace and mercy of God, I am in the position of president of this Association, and God can use me so that the Association's objectives are achieved and more leaders emerge in the future.
