David Smithard
CMF aims to train and equip doctors and nurses within their workplace to be a witness for Christ. Triple Helix publishes articles that have a medical and a Faith component. This is sent out to 5,000 people 2-3 times a year. My role is to identify writers on particular topics. In the next 12 months, we will publish on the theme of spiritual health, and there will be an International edition. I have spoken at Christian Medical Conferences. I am considering a new role with ICMDA that will complement my CMF role.
I decided to follow Christ in 1973. I was baptised in 1989, the same time as my wife.
This is quite complex. The most recent has been to commence a theology Course at Spurgeon's College after many years of prevaricating. My minister in Bishop Stortford, Richard Harrison, was very helpful and full of wisdom and compassion. Later, I listened to speakers in the Advocacy Track at the 2023 ICMDA (International Christian Medical and Dental Association) World Congress.
I am considering a role with ICMDA that will involve leadership across Western Europe. Having better training in Faith-Based Leadership will aid me in this.
I have held many leadership posts within the National Health Services. These include Medical Lead for the Hospital, Head of Stroke Care, Director of Research (Hospital and Regional), and Associate Medical Director of Community Services. I have been a Church Warden and am the editor of Triple Helix for CMF UK.
Health Care Staff need spiritual support wherever they work. To provide the best support, leaders must bring their spiritual experience/knowledge and leadership experience together to assist others in their faith journeys associated with their clinical work. This course with ELF and my theological training will assist me in any future roles God has planned for me.
