I gave my life to follow Christ when I was 16 and got baptised soon after. However, it was nine years ago that I had a health crisis and realised my priorities were not right in God’s eyes. We immigrated from Romania to the US in 1982 and were encouraged to pursue the ‘American Dream’ as children. Therefore, my primary focus was getting a degree, advancing my career, starting a family business, seeking financial gain, etc. God allowed my health crises as an opportunity for me to assess my investment in the riches above, which was very little. I prayed that God would provide opportunities for me to invest in His kingdom and others, and I’m thankful that He has done that.
Each topic listed in the course description will help me gain a more holistic understanding of and approach to evangelism. At the end of this course, I hope to share my own faith more confidently and share with others what I have learned in the course.
I’m passionate about encouraging others to study God’s Word through in-depth Bible study, ideally in a small group setting. My first exposure to in-depth Bible study was when a friend invited me to a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) nine years ago. Since then, God has grown the Romanian BSF online community and allowed me to serve first as a group leader and then as an online trainer for the Romanian women group leaders. Almost every group had non-Protestant participants. In my first year as a group leader, I had the privilege of seeing an 83-year-old group member commit to following Christ, which was an encouragement to all of us.
I serve as a Trainer and Shepherd to Romanian group leaders at Community Bible Study. I also serve as coordinator for an interdenominational Bible study retreat, Victorious Thru the Word, which meets yearly in Romania. The goal is fellowship and an introduction to in-depth Bible study. At the end of the retreat, participants are invited to join a Bible study group or to pray to see if God is calling them to lead a group.
