Bence Farkas
I lead a Hungarian Christian nonprofit organisation that helps churches and organisations grow by organising events and educating others. We also run a Christian community and event center in Budapest, where we host five different churches on Sundays, rent out offices for Christian organisations and churches, and host various events and workshops throughout the week. We also have a cafe, which we have been running for 10 years now and has become one of the city's most known openly Christian coffee shops. We have a small gallery and concert venue where we give opportunities to predominantly Christian artists to show their works. My role is the strategic leadership of the organization.
I grew up in a Christian home, always attending church, but I decided to give my life to Jesus in 2006. I was 13-14 at that time, eager to serve and follow God, but it was only a couple of years later, after a few unwise turns and personal failures, that I really and deeply understood how much I needed the grace and mercy of Jesus and the new life in Him.
My upbringing was defining. I have had the grace to grow up with faithful parents (church leaders) who followed Christ uncompromisingly and raised us in the love and fear of the Lord. Their faith still has a significant impact on me. The practice of confessing sin (often openly) within the church, practicing forgiveness, and experiencing much reconciliation and restoration as a result of my own and others' lives was also deeply impactful to my entire life. God has also blessed me with mentors and role models to follow, credible people whose lives I observed, and I am thankful for so many people that God has used in my life. My marriage to my wife is probably the greatest gift and impact on me. The arrival of our two children and being a father is also a vital way God teaches and forms me. Lastly, when I got entrusted with my current job, God put me in a situation that held a lot of challenges and more responsibility than I ever had before. I needed to depend on him immensely every day. This helps to keep me humble and forces me to grow continuously.
I am excited and eager to learn and connect with people in similar ministries worldwide.
I was previously a youth group leader, one of the leaders of the debating society at university, an assistant manager at a financial company, a church planter, and an elder. I am now the general director of Montazs Alapitvany and a board member at Josiah Venture Hungary (LUMEN).
I want to grow in my person and my work. I have dedicated my life to serving Jesus and want to grow up to be the right leader for the work God has entrusted us with. Our organisation is at a point where we are growing rapidly, and I want to anticipate its challenges with the right heart and the knowledge needed for us to continue stewarding faithfully.
