Beatrix Herbert

Beatrix Herbert is a CARE intern, working to change public policy on important social issues in England.
I grew up in a more nominal Christian family, but the message of Jesus’s love was instilled in me from a young age. I remember being about 10 years old, lying in bed one night, and telling Jesus that I gave Him my life. When I was 15, I was baptised at a Christian conference.
I was about nine when I began reading my first Bible and listening to worship music. At 16, my first close Christian friends challenged my beliefs. At university, I joined a church, which truly transformed my faith. In 2023, I felt led by God to join a mission trip to Mongolia. Experiencing Christ in a different culture taught me more about His character and to trust His provision, leading me to a deep friendship with Jesus, a great love for Scripture, and a growing passion for theology.
I hope to learn from the world-class teaching, particularly in areas relevant to my CEASE UK work and church ministry. I expect to deepen my understanding of how God’s word applies to social issues I am passionate about, and be further equipped professionally and personally. I hope to network with others ministering in the public square---sharing experiences, building relationships, gaining support.
As a member of the CARE Leadership Programme, I work with CEASE UK and Lord McColl of Dulwich, supporting their work in addressing pornography, commercial sexual exploitation, and modern slavery. My training is enabling me to make an impact on public life in the UK. I am also serving in many ministries at my church.
In school I was a representative on the Stroud District Youth Council and at Mock UN conferences. I was also Head Girl and Head of the School Council and Debate Club. I have preached at church, led small groups at youth camps, and recently represented Lord McColl in APPG meetings on commercial sexual exploitation. These opportunities have helped me develop leadership skills, including clear communication and speaking up for justice in the public square.
With CEASE UK, I am learning the importance of advocacy and policy work, particularly pertaining to trafficked women. I have a desire to serve the marginalised, possibly as an ordained deacon or chaplain. I hope to benefit the church and equip others through teaching and pastoral care.
