Alina Balaceanu is a professor and Bible study leader in Romania.
When did you trust Christ?
When I was five, the Holy Spirit revealed my total sinfulness, powerlessness, and desperate need for Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour. At the time, I attended the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Bucharest, Romania, with my family. I accepted Christ during a week-long evangelism event at that church.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
At age 16, I was baptised and became involved in worship ministry, playing piano and singing in various choir groups. My spiritual life knew new heights as I began to understand biblical concepts such as God's grace, providence, and sovereignty while dedicating more and more time to fellowship, Bible study, prayer meetings, sharing the Gospel, and disciple-making. In my student years, the Lord gave me the privilege of leading one of my colleagues to Christ and discipling her.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
My ministry was encouraged, blessed, and strengthened by my Forum training. I have also been equipped through teaching, books, and resources. I look forward to returning to the Forum because ELF is a significant source of encouragement, and it has been a special blessing every time I've been able to participate.
During the YRM, I want to understand how to get a better balance between business, family connection, and ministry. I want to learn to become a good witness of the Truth inside and outside the business, in word and deed. I want to learn to have better personal discipline and focus. I want to develop more courage and to be able to process the connection between entrepreneurial (newer focus) and spiritual life. I want to learn from much more experienced Christian Leaders, gain perspective and encouraging interactions, gain understanding, and learn practical guides and solutions for beginning business owners. I want to be coached in anticipating potential problems and learning from both the positive and negative experiences of others.
What is your ministry?
Currently, I serve as a coordinator and professor in several ministries: Jubilate Foundation (Music Translation Team Coordinator), summer classes professor, Consonantis Junior (Composition Coordinator, Steering Team), Emanuel University (Women's Bible Study Leader), and BBEO (Church Women's Ministry Collaborator).
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I have served as an adult worship leader and children's choir director. I have also been a women's Bible study leader at several youth camps in Romania.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
There is a lack of knowledge regarding doctrine, theology, and discipleship, although there are clear commandments in Scripture directly addressing the responsibility of women teaching women. Biblical teaching and disciple-making among women in Romania would significantly impact the church and society, considering women's key role in spiritually building their homes, educating children, and training and discipling young wives and mothers.
