Drug abuse floods the world. Opioids are claimed to have lowered the average life expectancy of the white US population, a line of cocaine has become almost as cheap as a beer in Germany, and amphetamines are reported to be a major source of income for some governments. What do people try to compensate for or attain through drugs? This talk will categorise drugs according to the "paradise" they suggest and will contrast these artificial paradises with what is immanent and what is transcendent.
