Pre-Forum Conferences

-
This Pre-Forum Conference will practise the art of ‘double listening’ as we relate the Bible to the world around us. We will examine the strange new world of gender fluidity, gender self-identification, and gender transition from a cultural and medical perspective, attend to the experience of gender-diverse individuals and ‘de-transitioners’, and explore a biblical perspective on gender, sex, identity, and our physical bodies. We will consider… Read more
Embedded in each of us are deep-felt needs that, when properly understood, reveal the heart’s quest for God. As Augustine said, ‘Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee’. Understanding and recognising these longings in our own lives will make us better at connecting the Gospel to the deep-felt needs in the hearts of all we meet. This conference will explore these longings and how to segue from the topic of longings to a… Read more
Five hundred years before Christ, the great Chinese General Sun-tzu wrote these words in his book The Art of War: "One who knows the enemy and knows himself will not be endangered in a hundred engagements. One who does not know the enemy but knows himself will sometimes be victorious, sometimes meet with defeat.  One who knows neither the enemy nor himself will invariably be defeated in every engagement." Unfortunately, there is much confusion… Read more

Pre-Forum Seminar

-
This seminar will provide a general understanding of the concepts, methods, and technologies underpinning artificial intelligence (AI), including recent innovations that have enabled entirely new capabilities. We will provide examples of exciting applications as well as discuss the limitations and potential misuse of AI. A key objective is to equip ministry leaders to (a) harness new AI applications fully and appropriately and (b) bring a… Read more
Justice, Equality, and Human Rights are all hotly contested topics in Europe and across the world today. This seminar will explore the biblical view of justice and the biblical foundations for equality. It will look at the ways in which Christians contributed to the development of human rights. It will seek to understand the ideas about human nature and human fulfilment underlying the ways in which justice, equality, freedom, and human rights… Read more
This seminar has three aims. First, it offers a clear historical account of what we know—and what we do not know—about the persecution of the church in the formative centuries of Christianity. Second, it examines the impact of persecution on the church’s mission and the spiritual and intellectual resources that enabled Christians not merely to survive suffering but, in many cases, to thrive through it. Third, the seminar explores the… Read more

Post-Forum Seminar

-
Luke writes more of the New Testament than any other New Testament writer, including Paul. Yet his theology is often an “orphan” in thinking through the Theology of the NT. Half of what we know of Jesus’ parables came from Luke. We would know far less of the early church if we did not have Acts. This session will engage with key Lukan theological themes, showing the scope and value of his contribution to the canon.  Session 1 - The Connection… Read more
Someone once said, ‘Church would be a great place if it weren’t for all the people!’ They were joking, of course, mostly. The truth is, if we live with, work around, and minister to people, the occasional relational conflict is inevitable. This seminar will explore the nature of conflict in the context of ministry and examine the Bible as a guide to effective conflict resolution. Session 1 - The Inevitability and Nature of Relational Conflict: … Read more
