Marcell Bakos
Marcell Bakos works as a researcher in Hungary.
I first heard the Gospel in 2014 at an English camp organised by Cru in Keszthely, Hungary. I joined Cru's weekly meetings and a Bible study group shortly after the camp. The Holy Spirit enabled me to decide to follow Christ in the winter of 2015. I started attending Sarokkő Church (PCA), where I am a member now. I currently lead the translation ministry and am part of over 20 church ministries.
My conversion was initiated through a significant moment with a Christian friend. After a conflict, he forgave me in such a way that I have never experienced. That forgiveness made the Gospel incredibly real to me. I finally understood what it means to be forgiven of my sins by Christ in a practical way. I understood my sinful nature and how much I needed grace from God. That lead to repenting, asking for forgiveness, and restoring the friendship. It also marked one of the first signs of spiritual regeneration in my soul.
I want to attend based on the recommendation from my pastors, Rob Futo and Ádám Szabados, leaders of the Evangelical Forum in Hungary. I want to connect with like-minded individuals for Christian networking and ministries for engagement and collaboration for the future.
I currently work in the research departments of the Axioma Center, preparing white papers on bioethics and sexual ethics. In this work, we pioneered the first white paper on the dangers of pornography impacting legislation in my country and lectured throughout Christian communities. We are also actively researching the issue of euthanasia and have assisted in a lawsuit with the Strasbourg Court in Hungary on this topic. As the sole independent and ecumenical think-tank, we represent Christianity's social teaching to society, the leadership of the church, and the world.
I lead Bible study groups, the over-20s ministry, and the translation ministry at my church. During high school, I was involved in student leadership with Cru. This included leading Bible studies and planning outreach events and retreats. During my university studies, I was invited to be a mentor at ADF International's Areté Academy. After I completed my education, I served as an editor-in-chief for one year, leading a team of eight people.
If you have a passion to support researchers that represent the Christian view on issues of bioethics and sexual ethics, this is my mission. This would improve my work in Hungary and impact the work of the Axioma Center organisation.
