Because Jesus taught so frequently through parables, any theology of ministry must take seriously the way these stories communicate the nature, mission, and challenges of God’s Kingdom. While the Gospels include other ministry‑defining narratives—such as the sending of the Twelve and the Great Commission—the Parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14 is particularly helpful, as it portrays both the grace‑filled, universal invitation into God’s Kingdom and the ministry challenges that arise when that invitation is rejected.
