Zsuzsi Orban
Zsuzsi Orban is serving in both women's and children's ministries in her local church in Hungary, while working as the International Coordinator at the University of Pannonia.
I was 15 years old when I gave my life to Jesus. I was raised in a religious family in the Reformed Church and always believed in God. My conversion happened at a YMCA youth leadership conference, right after the collapse of communism. Though I always loved going to church and reading the Bible, and took my confirmation at age 13 seriously, I had this huge fear of God. I finally knew that by God's grace, my sins were forgiven.
I was in the YMCA youth leader training programme, as well as Bible study groups. I had amazing quiet times with the Lord, and singing in the choir, praising God, was really impactful. I loved studying the Bible and theology while training to be a primary school teacher and attending Bible school. I wanted to serve God. I got baptised when I was 21, in the Calvary Chapel’s summer camp. I taught in primary schools, as well as church youth camps. I experienced some serious life challenges, but the Lord provided godly people to support me. I moved back to my home country and volunteered for ELF and the Hungarian 'Evangeliumi Forum'. I have learned that there is a God, and He hears me.
It is a great blessing to me to join brothers and sisters within Europe as well as worldwide. Attending ELF becomes a rhythm, a source of great community, braced with empowerment and genuine fellowship in Christ. While I was in the Discipling Network, God came close to me in a very deep way. I expect that Year-Round Mentoring will continue to provide me with the skills and tools to better disciple others in simple, everyday Christian life. I would also like to gain insight from those eager to learn and discuss, to participate in God’s work globally. I am applying in obedience.
I serve as an assistant in the women’s ministry at Evangelical Church, Veszprem, occasionally leading the Bible study. I also teach primary-aged children in our Sunday school.
At youth camp, I was a house leader as part of my field practice for college. I shared prayer group leadership throughout my secondary and college years. I shared children's ministry leadership for many years in various churches. I was a primary school teacher for five years and an English tutor for four years. I was also in retail management abroad for ten years, responsible for mobility projects, among other things.
After volunteering at ELF for several years then participating in the Discipling Network, I am seeking to continue to improve in discipling others in everyday life, as well as participate in God’s work globally.
