Szymon Szymczak is a church council member and elder for his church in Warsaw, Poland.

When did you trust Christ?

I was around 27 or 28 years old when my journey with faith truly began. At that time, my wife encouraged me to attend church with her—sometimes even bribing me with chocolate just to make sure I came along. For almost two years, I went regularly, listening, learning, and slowly opening my heart. One day, while reading the Letter to the Romans, I clearly understood the call to follow Jesus. During a sermon not long after, I felt a strong conviction that I should be baptised. I approached my pastor and told him with certainty, 'I want to be baptised'.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

My goal is to gain deeper knowledge in the area of church revitalisation and to put what I learn into practice in a meaningful way. I want to study different approaches that have been effective in other churches and communities and carefully consider how they can be adapted to our own situation. By exploring new methods, resources, and strategies, I hope to encourage growth not only in numbers but also in spiritual maturity and commitment among our members. Revitalisation for me means bringing fresh life, vision, and energy to the church so that it can grow stronger in both faith and community impact, while remaining focused on Christ at the center of everything.

What is your ministry?

I am a member of the church council and serve as an elder in a large church in Warsaw, Poland. My role is not about position but about serving others and supporting the life of the congregation. I try to encourage and care for leaders, walking alongside them in their ministry, helping when needed. I am also actively involved in the worship and media ministries, doing my best to make sure our gatherings are organised and helpful for everyone. I see my place in the church as a responsibility to serve faithfully and to strengthen our community step by step. I am a dedicated member of the church council, actively involved in both decision-making and the everyday life of our congregation. As an elder and member of the church board, I carry a deep sense of responsibility to serve faithfully, work together with others, and continually strengthen and inspire our community in Christ.
