Peter Baji
I serve as a church planter in the Budapest area. It involves pastoral care and leadership, and it is a missionary role. The core group started the church planting process in September 2022.
When I was 17 years old, I started to follow Jesus. I grew up in a semi-secular family, but in high school, I talked a lot with my Baptist math teacher. Jesus began to draw me to Him, and after I had read the Gospel of John, I experienced the Lord's presence in my room and understood He is alive. After that, I decided to follow Jesus.
Two weeks after my first decision, I was baptised. At this event, an elder of the church who didn't know me said: ‘The Lord says: “You'll speak about him before many people.”’ When I was 19 years old, I started attending Logos Hungary Christian College, learned much about the Bible, and finished it with a BA degree in theology. In 2010, I began to serve in Calvary Chapel Békásmegyer-Budapest as a youth pastor and worship leader and, after a while, as a preacher and elder. I learned much about ministry, church building, and responsibility in this church family.
Last year, I learned much about church planting and making healthy, gospel-centered church families. I am now more open to collaborating with other denominations. I want to return to the Forum because every part of it was edifying to me.
I was a youth pastor for 12 years and am now a church planter from 2022 to September.
As a millennial generation pastor, I am called to form the future of the church in Hungary. I joined the City-to-City Church Planter Network to understand better my city's contextualised, incarnational mission methods. Unfortunately, I have to learn a lot, and I don't have enough available practical experience in Hungary.
