Pál Bozsoki-Sólyom is a pastoral intern who assists with preaching, teaching, and working with youth in Hungary.

When did you trust Christ?

I grew up in a Christian family. Both my father, grandfather, and my great-grandfather were pastors, so throughout my childhood, I heard a lot about God and His works. At that time, I did not really understand what this all meant personally for me or how I was to respond. A few years later, at a youth conference, I truly encountered Jesus in a transformative way through personal testimonies, worship, prayer, and, above all, the Word of God. I came to understand that the record of debt that stood against us was nailed to the cross, including my own sins and failures (Col 2:14). From that point on, my life changed profoundly. I realised that this was not something I could keep to myself but something that needed to be lived out and confessed openly.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

The Lord has placed fellow believers alongside me with whom I could walk this very road. We carried each other in different seasons. Sometimes they supported me, and at other times I supported them. Additionally, conferences, spiritual retreats, evangelistic events, online sermons, and various other experiences shaped my faith, though not always in simple or comfortable ways. Some encounters clarified my questions, while others unsettled them and forced me to rethink my previous assumptions. These struggles helped me grow. Learning to pray honestly, to read Scripture patiently, and to trust God without quick resolutions has been one of the most significant ways my faith has matured. Looking back, it is fascinating to recognise God at work, often in ways very different from what I had expected.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

Attending the Forum will help me grow both theologically and pastorally by showing me how much I still do not know. I expect it to be challenging and demanding in a good way. I hope it will sharpen my understanding of how faithful, Scripture-centred ministry can be practised in today’s world. I also expect the Forum to provide practical insights and relationships that I can bring back to my local congregation, strengthening preaching, discipleship, and leadership development.

What is your ministry?

Currently, I serve as a pastoral intern, assisting in congregational ministry, preaching, teaching, and working with youth. Alongside practical ministry, I continue my theological formation, seeking to integrate academic theology with the everyday life of the church, and I also try to find time now and then to work on my thesis.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I have served in several leadership roles within the Reformed Church and in the academic community. In the past, I was involved in student leadership at the theological faculty, where I gained experience in representation, coordination, and shared decision-making. These roles have taught me to lead through service, cooperation, and pastoral responsibility rather than position or authority.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

I desire to serve the church faithfully and for the long term, grounded in Scripture and shaped by ongoing learning. I am still being formed, and I know I need guidance, correction, and growth. Any support would help me become a more faithful servant for the benefit of the congregation and those I am called to serve.
