Marko Pometun
Marko Pometun is a missionary with Steiger in Poland.
My decision to follow Jesus happened in my early years. I was raised in a Christian family, but my journey with Jesus began when I moved from Ukraine to Poland and started living alone. That's when I realised it was no longer about the faith of my parents but mine.
One book, in particular, impacted how I see Christianity and missionary life. It taught me that I can be a missionary in my town and that serving God doesn't have to be within a church. Another book had an impact on my prayer. Since reading it, I've started building my prayer culture, which was one of the first moments I heard God speaking to me. Another moment was attending the Awakening Europe Conference in Vienna. I met one of the leaders from Steiger there, and since then, we have become very close friends. He has helped me grow a lot.
Attending the European Leadership Forum will give me the knowledge I need to serve the people God has brought into my life even better than I do now. Through my leadership, I want people to grow in their calling, discover their God-given potential, and grow closer to God. I want to learn how to activate people, share my vision and heart, and invest in those people so that they see the value in what they do.
A Steiger team's vision is to get to know the youth scene, find out how to communicate the Gospel with those people, build relationships with them, and eventually, have an impact on the young people. In addition to this, I lead a Bible study group for all non-Christian friends of ours, people from the outreaches, and newcomers in the church. The central part of what I do is reach the techno-scene culture in my city and build friendships with people there. I spend nights with them there, talk to them, listen to their stories, share the Gospel, and pray for them.
I've been part of a few different teams. I led the Alpha and Bible study groups in my church. I mentored new employees at some companies I worked for. At Steiger, I led an Outreach Team for Poland. Currently, I lead a Steiger team in my city.
What I do now is God's purpose for me in Krakow. I have a big vision, but God never meant for me to carry it alone. I need people who support me and grow in this ministry so that if I am absent, the ministry will not stop but will be continued by others.
