Maria Adami is the assistant to the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hungary.

When did you trust Christ?

I grew up in a Lutheran pastor's family. However, it wasn't until I was a teenager and attended a Bible week for young people that I made faith my own. Our group leader talked with us about sin and salvation, and I finally understood that I needed forgiveness. I decided to follow Jesus, not because of the faith of my parents, but because of my own decision.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

I attended many youth conferences and the Bible school of an Evangelical organisation called Evangelicals for the Gospel. I later became a member of this organisation, and it helped me grow in my faith. During my studies at university, I attended a Bible group, and I eventually led this Bible group for two years. This challenged my beliefs and helped my faith mature. Through this, I became acquainted with the Hungarian Evangelical Forum. I attended several conferences run by this organisation; it helped me define what it means to be evangelical.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

Joining a community with other Bible study leaders is highly appealing for several reasons, primarily centered around mutual growth, shared learning, and enhanced effectiveness in ministry. The opportunity to connect with individuals who share a similar passion and calling for teaching God's Word is invaluable. It provides a platform for exchanging insights, discussing challenges, and encouraging each other in a supportive environment. Finally, I expect to gain continued spiritual and professional growth.

What is your ministry?

My job is to assist the presiding bishop of our church in areas of media, event organisation, and maintaining contact with foreign partners. I also do some volunteer work teaching at a Bible school, leading a Bible study group, and organising inter-denominational preaching conferences.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I was a Bible group leader in university for two years, and I was a youth leader and a teacher at several youth conferences as part of MEKDSz / IFES / InterVarsity. I was also a helper and a counsellor for several youth conferences of the Word of Life organisation. After my theological studies, I became an assistant to a pastor with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hungary and have taught the inductive Bible study method at a Bible school for Evangelicals for the Gospel.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

The knowledge and inspiration gained through Year-Round Mentoring will be directly applicable to my local church in my hometown and to the wider Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Hungary. My participation will also benefit the evangelical organisations I am part of, enabling them to better support their members in growing in faith and staying true to the Word of God.
