Lőrinc Mári serves as part-time pastor at the Reformed Congregation of Káposztásmegyer and the Benkő István Reformed Elementary and High School in Hungary.

When did you trust Christ?

I grew up in a devout Christian family, but did not make the decision to follow Christ until I was 16 years old. I listened to a series of sermons on YouTube that touched my heart, and there in the quiet of my own room, I gave my life to Jesus.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

One decisive moment was when God called me to pastoral ministry. I owe a great deal to my friends and teachers in theological college, from whom I learned a lot about authentic Christian living. The senior pastor at the church where I serve contributes greatly to growing my faith by not only being my boss, but also my friend and mentor.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

Since I have only been an ordained pastor for less than two years, I have a great need to learn and gain new inspiration so that I can develop professionally as a church pastor and school pastor. In addition, I would like to re-charge spiritually so that I can return to my ministry renewed. I believe that my experiences at the Forum will help both the congregation and the school to grow.

What is your ministry?

I currently serve as a part-time pastor in the Reformed congregation in Káposztásmegyer. My involvement includes leading five youth groups, a home group, preaching, and leading worship. My other part-time job is as pastor of the Benkő István Reformed Elementary School and High School. I hold devotionals for high school students every week, teach religion classes at the high school, and teach Bible classes for the school's teachers.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I previously led a youth group in Maglód for three years and was a leader in my mother church's youth group for four years. I also served as a member of the board of the Reformed Youth Association for six years.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

God has already placed me in a position where I have the opportunity to reach many people with the Gospel. In the coming years, it is possible that I will be invited to serve as a senior pastor. I am asking for a scholarship because my salary does not allow me to pay the full participation fee for the Forum.
