Katie Klein is a women's ministry leader with a heart for discipleship at her church in Germany.

When did you trust Christ?

I grew up in church, but I never really heard who Jesus was and what He did for me on the cross. When I went to university, I stepped away from church, and at some point, I went through a very dark time. I felt so empty inside. One evening, I attended church and heard the words of a song, 'It was my sin that held Him there.' Suddenly, I realised that Jesus had died for me. It was my sin that held Him on the cross, and I just wept and wept. Over the following year, I became increasingly hungry for God. I wanted to hear from Him and learn from Him. Over the years, He has led me and taken me deeper during each season of my life. There have been many lonely times and times that I've grieved for what could have been, but the Lord has shown me His unfailing love and faithfulness, that He is always with me, and He is enough.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

I hope to gain insights into my calling and how best to initiate and grow my ministry of discipleship among women in IBC Bielefeld. I would love to learn skills on how to best utilize every opportunity for ministry and how to encourage women to get involved. I would love to grow in my own prayer life and see my delight in the Lord flourish and deepen. I hope this Year-Round Mentoring will enable me to lead people more wisely and humbly, so that I will be more effective and intentional in what I do. I hope women would grow in their hunger and commitment to Christ as the overall ministry grows, and more people would be drawn to go deeper in Christ or start those initial steps toward Him.

What is your ministry?

As the leader of a women's discipleship team, I give people the opportunity to get to know Jesus and grow and spend time with Him, either through Bible studies, events, or prayer rooms. I spend time with people to encourage them, counsel them, and pray with them. I also have an administrative role to keep things going. My heart is to see women set free and deepened in their relationship with Christ and move with joy in their giftings and their lives, bringing glory to God. I also have overall leadership of the kids' ministry to recruit, train, equip, and encourage new leaders.
