Henry Mach is the Operations Manager for Steiger in Germany.
When did you trust Christ?
I came to Christ when I was studying abroad during my high school years. I was living with a Christian host family at the time, who brought me to church and the youth group. I was very hesitant at first because I found Christians a bit strange and didn't see myself as a religious person, but I saw, for the first time, a church that was alive, with many young people, people with joy, and not at all the idea of just church as a building. Before I went to university, I decided to give my life to Jesus and get baptised.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
One of the key defining moments for me was when I lived in Prague for work. Up to that point, I knew the Gospel but was more of a Sunday Christian, without much action in my faith. However, in Prague, I felt convicted to join a home group for the first time in my life and could ask deeper questions about the faith in a group of young, like-minded people. There, I grew very quickly in my faith, as I confronted key questions that set me on a path to grow.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
What I would love to get out of Year-Round Mentoring is to have personal input from outside my mission about the work that I'm doing to grow in my leadership and to get new perspectives. I love the idea of joining a cohort of people from different ministries, which I am sure will help inspire me to grow.
What is your ministry?
Steiger mobilises followers of Jesus to reach young people who would not walk into a church. We establish long-term missionary teams that reach and disciple the Global Youth Culture and train the Church to reach the secular culture of their communities. Our vision is to raise up a radical missionary movement that will transform the Global Youth Culture for Jesus.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I have been in my current role as Operations Manager at Steiger since completing the annual mission school. Prior to that, I worked for three years at Amazon in the corporate world as an HR Team Manager, managing an international team of up to 18 HR admins in payments. This role helped me develop my administrative and leadership skills in a fast-paced corporate environment.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I believe the work I do in Steiger has great value in furthering the Kingdom in Europe, as we focus on front-line work to bring the Gospel to people and places where there is usually little exposure to the real Gospel.
