Grega Vauhnik is a missionary with Josiah Venture in Slovenia.

When did you trust Christ?

I decided to follow Jesus at 12 years old after I started going to a youth group in my hometown church. The church leaders, community, and services were a great testament of God to me, and I started attending, praying, and talking to God. I trusted Him with my life and walked with Him.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

After I first trusted Christ when I was 16, I started longing for something more. I met a group of people who attend my current church and joined a choir with them. I learned more about how to read my Bible and build my relationship with God even more. In the next few years, I was part of Bible study groups that helped me to learn more about God and my relationship with Him. I was around missionaries who offered guidance and help when I had questions and doubts. I think all of those people and the people I worked with sharpened me even further and helped me to grow.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

I know many people who have attended ELF and all greatly support it. I would like to be better equipped as a leader in my local church. I want to be part of seeing and understanding what is going on and how we, as a church body, can look towards Jesus together and walk and grow in His path. I believe ELF will be a great opportunity for me to get better equipped as a leader in my church.

What is your ministry?

I work for Josiah Venture, which does youth ministry. I work mainly with youth, helping with youth groups and evangelistic camps and doing one-on-one discipleship. I am a deacon in my church, responsible for kids, youth, and young adults. I coordinate small group Bible studies, oversee youth groups and Sunday school, and am also in the preaching rotation. This next semester, I will also be attending eldership training.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

I have been a student leader at a youth group, the main leader of a youth group, the main leader of a relational ministry that uses music, a worship leader, a student leader at evangelistic camps, a camp director of an evangelistic camp, a small groups coordinator at my local church, and a deacon at my local church.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

I want to be able to help my elders and co-leaders in church effectively, and I want to be there for the people in my church when they need prayer, guidance, counsel, or advice. I know I first need a ton of God's grace and guidance, but I also need help from people who have already walked that path and have experience and an outside perspective.
