Fábián Bence is the President of a ministry for young people in Hungary.
In 2020, I concluded that something was not right with me. Then, for the first time, I had a real thirst to know more about the God of the Bible. I had attended church, heard many preachers, and experienced God's love before, but I still had a hard heart. As I had this thirst, I read the Bible and listened to sermons in my free time. On a particular afternoon, I was singing alone in my room about Jesus. This was the first time I understood the pain and suffering of Jesus dying on the cross. I understood that incomprehensible love that was in Him. I sincerely felt I was not worthy of that great love, but I accepted it while crying and surrendered myself.
In the early years of my faith, I saw genuine pastors whose actions were filled with God's love. My calling to be a pastor was a remarkable change in my Christian walk. It was one of the few times I saw God's Word clearly. The Lord's guidance seemed solid to me. It was essential because I had great fear connected to that decision. Later, I had to learn to follow the Lord when the guidance was less clear. I had to learn to trust Him in those situations, too.
I expect to meet leaders with more experience in ministries like mine. I hope to learn from them, gain inspiration, and get new ideas. I am experiencing my new leadership role and have different questions from last year. From all the things I hope to get, I expect that my ministry can be more effective.
In our ministry, we believe that any young person can gain a new life in Christ and become a part of the body of Christ. We are committed to working so that the youth can meet with Christ and follow Him in the congregations and the whole church. We also organise camps and regular events for youth from ages 13 to 26.
I was co-leader of a youth group for two years. I led conversations and looked after teenagers who were serving there. I also organised summer camps and other youth meetings where many could hear about the Gospel.
As far as I know, few people in my country are experienced in this type of ministry. The church hardly reaches young adults. Most of the focus is on teenagers. This type of ministry is essential because so many lose their faith in this stage of their lives. If someone has similar feelings about this issue, it's an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and experience and make a change with God's mercy.
