Daniela Sinčić shares the Gospel with people with disabilities in Serbia.
I was born and raised in a communist family in Serbia. When I was in high school, I was skeptical about God, the Bible, and faith. My sister became a believer and invited me to church. At the church, someone gave me a Bible and challenged me to read it and ask God to speak to me. Loving to read books, I began to read the New Testament. During the next month, I was reading and asking God lots of questions. I was amazed that the answers came from strangers who didn't know what was on my mind. Finally, God touched my heart, I recognised that I'm a sinner and need God, and I became a believer and follower of Jesus.
Throughout my life, I have been learning to serve God in the places where I am (university, work, motherhood, church). Years ago, with the help of two women in a mentorship group, I recognised where I was in my walk with the Lord on my own, and the fact that I was so tired. I gave all to Jesus and let Him be my all. With mentoring, I grew my relationship with God. I received a hunger for reading the Bible and knowing more of God, and His Word became most important to me.
I am very thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Forum. I am inspired to walk with people whom I minister to become mature disciples of Christ. I hope to meet some more amazing people and stay in touch with them to strengthen my ministry. I appreciate the effort and time every speaker gives during the Forum; it has helped me to recognise new directions for my ministry.
I work with a non-profit organisation called Hana's Hope that supports families with children and family members with disabilities. In July, we organised retreats for families and shared the Gospel with them. Last year, we started a new project for young people with disabilities without parents. We are thankful for opportunities to teach them social skills and pray with them. Twice a month, we have a support group for mothers of children with disabilities and have a Bible study with them. We also had opportunities to help in organising retreats in Slovenia and across Serbia.
I was on our church's Sunday school leadership team for two years. Then, I began helping with the teenager ministry in our church, where I was a team leader until the end of 2020. Until 2013, I was part of the scouting ministry of Royal Rangers, where I was involved in preparing camps and Bible studies for children and teenagers
People with disabilities are marginalised in the world and in churches, too. We strongly believe that the Good News is for everyone, which means it is for those families, even for people with intellectual disabilities or any other disability. Sharing the Gospel and leading them to know God, to know the Bible, and helping them to grow and use the gifts given to them by God is our mission. I believe that investing in my ministry is investing in those families. Helping and equipping me for the task of leading a Bible study for them is helping those vulnerable people to hear and hopefully receive Jesus.
