Daniel Uri-Kovacs
Daniel Uri-Kovacs is a leader with YouthBuilders in Hungary.
In 2013, I started to seek God. Finally, He found me in January 2014 when, after a youth session, I felt His presence in person for the first time and understood the full depth of His love and how precious He considered me to be.
My pastor's preaching greatly impacted me, especially the depth to which he revealed the meaning of God's Word to me. My relationship with my father was very strained at that time, and it was at a REFISZ (Reformed Youth Federation) summer camp that I first experienced that God is not only a Creator but also a Father. I wanted to serve in my church, but there was no opportunity there, so after a pastoral care talk, I applied to be a minister in REFISZ. Here, I experienced God forming me through service. Since then, I have been a board member of the organisation for several years, and year after year, I have experienced many young people coming to Christ through my ministry.
After the 2024 Forum, I started a leadership position, and I was helped with a vision of disciple-making leadership and a Gospel-centred ministry. This year, I want to deepen my Gospel-centred ministry vision, learn how our organisation can do God's work, and seek Kingdom Impact.
My ministry is focused on reaching the youth ministry workers in Hungary. We want to help 60% of churches have well-prepared and faithful youth leaders.
Since 2019, I have been a board member of REFISZ, so I am responsible for leadership, policy, mission, financial decisions, camps, and preaching. In the same year, I became a staff member of YouthBuilders, primarily doing graphic design and coordinating volunteers for our annual conference. I became a youth leader several years ago, starting a new group with 9th-10th graders at my church. A few years ago, a friend and I started a college group within REFISZ for young people seeking a church in Budapest.
I am a young Christian believer with a burning desire to join God's work. I want to serve Him not only with my time and energy, but I want to do it well. The people God wants to entrust to me are very important to me. I see the burning issues of our time and the devastating challenges that young people face---I want to give them a message that I believe can answer their questions and change their lives. As an Eastern European, I am on a tight financial budget, but I am enthusiastic and want to be filled by the faith of others and learn from their experiences.
