Dániel Maszárovics
Dániel Maszárovics is a church leader and junior medical doctor from Hungary.
I was raised in a Christian family. Though, it wasn’t until I was 14 years old, when I had a discussion with an older believer, that I finally understood what it meant to commit my life to Christ. I made my choice, we prayed together, and I received God’s grace and love.
When I was a teenager, I went to a boarding school and became interested in what it was like to be one of the cool kids. In the dormitory, I was worldly. While at church, I presented a Christian life. During my first year of medical school, I saw the disobedience in my life, the lies, and the hypocrisy. I joined a Bible study and served at summer youth camps; I learned a lot from these ministries. Now, God teaches me a lot through marriage, and I also receive a lot from the elders and preachers of my church.
I have been embraced and strengthened through the Forum, but I think I still have much to learn. The greater part of growth depends on my personal, everyday relationship with the Lord and on building personal relationships in my community and in our churches with wiser and older people. But to be part of the Forum widens one’s perspective. International relationships offer great opportunities to see God’s work in other people, countries, and cultures. There is an atmosphere of godliness in there.
I serve in church leadership with three other brothers. We have a board meeting monthly where we discuss our church’s plans, reflect on our church life, and pray together for wisdom and for the work of the Spirit in our church. I’m also one of the preachers at my church on Sundays. Outside of my home church, I serve as the head of the Hungarian Brethren Easter Conference’s organising team. In my day job, I am a junior medical doctor.
As a student, I was a leader for IFES / InterVarsity at my university. My aim was to build a community that strengthened believers in their faith and shared the Gospel with our university. With another leader from IFES / Intervarsity, I started the Hungarian Christian Medical Forum. Further, I was asked to be one of the leaders of the Hungarian Youngstars Ministry, where we translated and trained older teens and young adults.
I am young, I am faithful, and I see a lot of need in ministries. I already have quite a lot of experience in leadership, but I still need to grow in many different areas.
